Privacy Policy

All your notes stay on your device. Here is exactly what we collect, how we handle it, where it is stored, and who it is shared with.
1. Data Collection
We collect only data you explicitly provide: notes you type, tags, and settings. Automatically, we read the YouTube video ID, title, and playback timestamp only at the moment you create a note — not passively. No personal identification, no video content, no cookie values, no device identifiers, and no usage analytics are ever collected.
2. Data Handling
Notes are captured and stored locally the instant you save them — never transmitted anywhere. Video ID and title are read from the YouTube page only while you're actively using the Extension on that tab. Timestamps are read from the YouTube player only at the moment you create a note. Export files are generated locally and saved to your device. No data is ever sent to our servers or any third party.
3. Data Storage
All data is stored exclusively on your device using chrome.storage.local — browser-native, sandboxed, and inaccessible to other extensions or websites. No cloud sync, no external databases. Notes persist until you delete them or run the built-in storage cleanup. You can delete all data via Extension settings or by uninstalling.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with any third parties — including YouTube or Google. No exceptions. The Extension makes no outbound network requests. Export files (JSON/CSV/Markdown/TXT) are saved to your local device only — not to any server.
5. Permissions
storage: save notes and preferences locally. tabs: detect when you are on YouTube. alarms: schedule background cleanup. notifications: alert you when background tasks complete. contextMenus: add 'Save Note at Timestamp' to right-click menu. offscreen: enable file export in service worker context. host_permissions (youtube.com): inject the note-taking UI into YouTube pages.
6. No Tracking or Analytics
Zero analytics, zero crash reporting, zero telemetry. We do not track how you use the extension, which videos you watch, or how many notes you take. None of that data is collected, stored, or shared.
7. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from minors.
